The Happy Barnet Craft Challenge 2022!

Welcome to year FIVE of the Happy Barnet Craft Challenge!! A set of prompts and ideas to help you learn new crafts and develop your existing ones.

How it works

Yellow Challenges and all about fun and inspiration whilst the Blue Challenges are prompts to help learn something new . We’ll be focusing on one from each list each monthly BUT this is a challenge designed for fun and inspiration so you can use these prompts any way that works best for you.

And don’t forget our two bonus challenges! These aren’t linked to any particular month so set yourself these challenges any time you like.

Join in!

It doesn’t matter what craft(s) you enjoy or how experienced you are, everyone is welcome to join in and our Facebook group is one of the best places to do that. You can also follow our posts on the Happy Barnet Instagram TikTok or Twitter accounts.

Share a craft goal with the group or partner up with a craft buddy/mentor

Be inspired by the Chinese zodiac animal of the year; the tiger

February

Learn something new by trying out a craft kit

Make something in the 2022 colour of the year: Very Peri

March

Level up! Learn a new technique in a craft you’re comfortable with

Make something inspired by books, a story or character

Get a friend to teach you a new craft or technique

Be inspired by the seasons

Try a tool or piece of equipment you’ve never used before

Be inspired by the International year of Glass

Try something you’ve previously been intimidated by

Reduce, re-use, recycle; complete an upcycling project

Try something from a craft book

Send a surprise handmade gift

Teach a craft to someone

It’s happiness happens month so do or be inspired by something or someone that makes you happy

Get a friend or fellow crafter to pick a project for you

Shake, wiggle, spin or roll. Make something that moves.

Try a project you’ve found through social media

Pick an era and get inspired by it’s design, styles or colour palettes

Revisit a craft or technique you’ve not tried in a while

Pick something that’s traditional in your part of the world

Use a material you’ve never used before

Take inspiration from the night sky
